What Laser Dentistry Can Do For You!

Okay, we admit!  We love dental technology.  The advances in dental tech continually raises the bar of treatments, methods of procedure, and patient comfort.  Michelle Wang DDS always looks into acquiring proven technologies that maximize oral health.  One of our recent acquisitions is the Ultradent Gemini Diode Laser.  We are excited to let our neighbors throughout the Redlands community know about the many benefits of laser-assisted dentistry.

Dental Lasers Have Many Uses

Were you aware that several types of dental treatments benefit from dental lasers?  Let’s take a look at a few.

  • Gum Disease Therapy: lasers have the ability to eliminate bacteria that hides inside the gum pocket.  Lasers can also remove diseased, infected, inflamed and necrosed soft tissue inside of the gums.
  • Removal of soft tissues:  We can use lasers to trim away excess tissue, to remove the frenum, expose unerupted teeth with little to no discomfort.
  • Tissue Biopsies:  If there is ever a need to test for oral cancers, lasers come in handy.  Dental lasers can remove tiny pieces of suspicious tissues so that a medical lab can examine them.
  • Treatment of oral lesions:  Lasers can be used to treat canker sores and ulcers of the oral mucosa to lessen the pain associated with these lesions as well as the duration.

Lasers & Dental Skill

Although technologies like dental lasers can furnish better results than older methods, they require specialized skill sets on behalf of the dentist.  Dr. Wang is certified and trained to use lasers for soft tissue therapy.   She enjoys advancing dental applications but always balances their use with established dental methods.  Dr. Wang understands that dentistry is a science and an art that necessitates a delicate human touch.
